a) Conducting training/short certificate courses
Initially, NIDS has been undertaking short and medium term hands-on training/certificate courses of youth (especially inhabitants of NW) at undergraduate and postgraduate levels on specialized skills.

- Mobile Phone Technology and Operation
- Office Management
- Salesmanship
- Modern Telecom Technology and Infrastructure of Bangladesh
- Workshop on modern photovoltaic system
NIDS has been conducting two short certificate courses viz, a) Seed Production Technology (8 batches completed with 1 month each) and b) Basic of Computer and IT application (one batch completed with 6 months) since May 2012.
b) Collaborating training with other stakeholders
Apart from the above short certificate courses, other stakeholders (NGOs, government agencies, private sectors etc.) are also conducting their training programs in collaboration with NIDS. Through this collaboration NIDS has been organizing capacity building training of Helvetas Bangladesh (Swiss Inter-cooperation), CARE Bangladesh, Social Development Foundation (SDF) and a national NGO - VERC .since January 2013 on different development issues viz, Organization Development and Management, Family Nutrition, Positive Deviant Farmers, and Community Assessment Process. These are part of NIDS development-oriented activities to train local manpower/youths. Students will be able to get involved in these activities to obtain hands on experience as and when needed.
